12v to 7v fan Adapter [DIY tutorial]
Here is a quick trick to make your computer case fan more quiet as it will spin about 70% of full speed . Most fans are 12v, and some have a small 3 pin connector to motherboard for speed control... but most motherboards only have 1-2 of these so if you have more then one case fan, the other one is normally just connected using a molex 4 pin adapter.

If you are using one of these molex adapters, the fan spins at 100% all the time and is quite loud..... this mod makes the fan use 7 volts instead of 12 volts, fans only require about 5-6 volts to start up so this should always work, but make sure your fan starts reliably (eg, a dirty fan may require more power).

(note, red goes to yellow and black goes to red, otherwise your fan will spin backwards..). if you have any questions, just ask.

Tools you need:
Electrical tape
wire cutters
soldering iron (preferred), but you can just tape it well if you dont have an iron
