Anybody know why university reading week a week earlier than college?

Anybody know why university reading week a week earlier than college?

the timing is so they can give us the family day holiday without interuption of monday classes. aka they can give us less time off

Also, having every post-secondary student off at the same time would create a critical mass of drunken shenanigans, likely causing a large part of the world to dissolve into chaos.

It makes sense that they give us the week with Family Day in it off but on the other hand it would be nice to have an extra day. That said it would suck if you had like a night class on Mondays or something then you'd be missing a huge chunk of lecture time, so situations like that are probably why the just want it to be 1 week off as opposed to a week and an extra Monday.

lots of universities got an extra week off for christmas and their spring break is one week after ours.

That's odd. I think Mac is the one with the normal break, not the other schools. Reading Week generally falls on the same time as Family Day.

Four years ago reading week was on the second week of the Olympics - this year it's on the first week. Made it easier for me to watch hockey. =/
