Beta: Header Style Toggle

Hey all!

We're working on some new header styles for MI, you can try them out by going to the bottom of the site and you'll see a dropdown selector to pick between the regular template or the new ones. Note: they are still in BETA, we'd love to hear your feedback! Currently there's a maroon header that tries to show some McMaster spirit as well as a darker grey version in the works.

Try them out and let us know your thoughts!

I'm liking New Header Black, though I think I prefer the static width of the regular New Header. It's not like the width of my screen is constantly changing though, so it's not a big deal.

Both headers are really cool. I like the black one alot, but no matter what the decision is you should keep it fluid, the other one looks really narrow and there is alot of empty space in the sides.

I think that for the black header, the dropdown menus could be a lighter colour. The dark gray seems to blend in with the header.

I was using black-fluid width and I wasn't able to type in the response field when I tried to respond to a post. Typing just wouldnt work and niether did the delete or backspace keys.

Changing back to the original header style fixed the problem, so I thought I'd let you know.

I was just about to post this. =\

I don't have the exact problem though. I'm able to type, but the carat is invisible and when I highlight text, the context menu doesn't seem to recognize it as so.

It's not a problem when I'm using Chrome, if that helps at all.

The black one looks SLICK...and I agree with Jeremy, the grey on dark Grey is hard to read. Should make the text some brighter colour. Otherwise great header.

I use google chrome and have a large screen resolution. The narrow ones look nice, and fluid is more practical.

In fluid the headers are very narrow while the rest of the content spreads out. Is there a way to make the header graphic match the width of the content?

Thanks for all your feedback everyone!

What do you guys think of keeping the homepage fixed, but when you view the forums it goes fluid width and the header nav widens? Fixed width works well for the homepage since we can put videos and images and know what width works best Just a thought...

As for the bug with typing... it has been brought to my attention. I'm trying to fix it and figure out what code I may have taken out by mistake that's causing it.
