Biochemistry Level II Cutoffs
Just some info from the Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences "Ticket To Your Future" Event:

Honours Biochemistry (No Specialization)
Program Size: 60-65
Estimated Cut-off: 8.0

Honours Biochemistry (Biomedical Sciences Specialization)
Program Size: Max 40
Estimated Cutoff: 8.0

Honours Biochemistry (Biotechnology Specialization)
Program Size: Max 25
Estimated Cutoff: 8.0

*I was told the cutoffs were around 7.8 last year so an 8.0 would give you a very good chance to get in.

I did not ask about the Origins Specialization. My apologies to anyone who wanted that info.

Feel free to correct me if any of this is wrong or if I got any of the programs mixed up or to add on to anything I said

Haha it was pretty ghetto. Just a bunch of students and 1 prof (there might have been more but everyone was wearing the same shirt so i couldn't really tell) sitting around answering questions in a small room.

So did I, especially for the specializations. Guess they're not as popular as I initially thought.

I don't think it would matter how hard a program is, it would be more dependent on how popular it is and how many spots they have. I think the Biology ones are higher because a lot more people apply to them.

I talked to Michelle MacDonald (I think it was her) at the Biochem info session they had today and she was the one that gave me these numbers. Hopefully I heard her correctly.

Is it true that the biomedical sciences specialization requires an interview?

Not hard to get into; as long as you have the required average you'll get in.

For coursework...I would say that it's more "lots of work" than "really difficult work"...if you work hard, you should be fine. Also, if you're just in core biochem, then third year has the potential to be extremely easy.

What is the biology cut-off?
I have tried searching for it, but I can't find it.
I want to know, just out of curiosity.
