Bird courses for 1st year
Looking for some bird courses for 1st semester as I'm already planning Math 1B03, Physics 1B03 and Econ 1BB3.

Microecon and peace studies with Doubleday is pretty easy. Linguistics is extremely interesting, yet you need to put a little more effort than regular classes to do well and it should be easy. Philosophy 1B03 was pretty easy and interesting, was about environmental ethics.

How can you call it a bird course, then?

It depends on what you're good at and can excel in easily.

No course is Bird in university, you have to put effort into it to get a good mark. Content wise, you do need to put a little more effort to understand linguistics. When it comes to assignments and marking schemes, thats where you get the birds makes sense?

Yes. Thanks.
What about the anthropology courses? Are any of them "birds"?

From what I've heard, not at all. But I could be wrong.

Let me give you some valuable advice. You need to pick your electives solely based on your interests. What one person may find as being easy another may find it to be equally difficult. You're a math major, logic is going to be used a lot in your math courses. I suggest looking at some of the first year philosophy courses

MATH 1B03 was easy for about 90% of the term. Then came the exam.......

If you're in math, you'll probably find Microecon (Econ 1B03) or Macroecon (Econ 1BB3) both pretty easy.

Linguistics is easy in the sense that if you just spend the time understanding basic concepts (i.e. memorizing IPA, general concepts regarding syntax) then you should be able to tackle anything they throw at you. Also, 30% of your mark is comprised of very easy weekly problem sets, and the midterm and exam are very fair. Basically, if you know your stuff, you should be fine.

I took Anthropology 1Z03 as an elective and for me it was really easy. My prof, Dr. Prowse was awesome as well, and I heard she's the best in comparison to the other anthro profs.

I took anthro 1a03 (cultural anthro) with Cummin. It was so hard. My lowest mark by far. Not easy at all. Exam was retarded!

I took anthro 1B03 with Carter. Amazing prof, podcasts and lecture slides+notes posted on avenue. One of of my favourite profs, he's a cool dude. He's also british, if that's a dealbreaker for you.
Not sure if he's teaching next year though, he may possibly be on a dig

Any of the first year philosophy courses should be pretty easy if you're into that stuff. 1A03 was my favourite.
