I chose chem/bio because I'm more interested in the research side of things. In straight Chem, you'll learn about stuff like process control, reactor design, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mass transfer, and polymers. With chem/bio, you also get to take some microbiology courses, anatomy and physiology, and a bioengineering lab course. I've found that I wouldn't have been as interested in doing straight chem.
