Come And Join Canfar
Hey Everyone!

come and Join CANFAR, Canadian Foundation for AIDS research as a general member and get volunteer hours for participating in and planning events!!
What is CANFAR?
The Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research is the only national charitable organization whose goal is to raise awareness in order to generate funds for research into all aspects of HIV infection and AIDS. Since its inception in 1987, CANFAR has invested more than $15 million in research initiatives across Canada. Every year, CANFAR receives research proposals which are ranked by a voluntary team of world-renown physicians and scientists. CANFAR then goes through the projects and funds them from the highest ranked to lowest ranked until there is no more money left. Unlike many organizations, CANFAR has very low overhead/administrative costs which they fund through their own initiatives, so 100% of what we raise goes directly to AIDS/HIV research in Canada.

What does CANFAR McMaster do?
CANFAR McMaster is one of 24 CANFAR Clubs in universities across Canada. CANFAR McMaster has two main goals: 1) to raise money to give to CANFAR to fund AIDS/HIV research (we write a cheque to CANFAR at the end of each year), and 2) to educate our peers about AIDS/HIV. The statistics are appalling: 50% of new cases of HIV infection occur in people under 25, and over 10.3 million people aged 15-24 are living with HIV/AIDS worldwide. As students in this age range, we feel that the influence of peers is the best way to improve the situation of this pandemic. Since our inception three years ago, we have been holding numerous fun events to draw a crowd, raise money, and educate McMaster students.

so come and join us today! Email us at canfar@mcmaster.ca!!

VP, CANFAR McMaster
