I am in Business I and was wondering how many courses I have to take?

So far I have the following:

1PA0
1E03
1BA3
1BB3
1M03
1X03

How many more courses do I need to take?

Thanks!

So if you look at the last number in the course code, it gives you the amount of units it weighs. For a full course load, you need 30 units. Your first course has no units, and if you add the others, it's 15 units in total, so you need 5 more courses with 3 units each

i thought for business I, we only need to do 21 units, meaning only 7 courses, I could me wrong though..not sure.. can someone help?

This is what I see from the mac website:

1 course COMMERCE 1PA0
3 units COMMERCE 1E03
3- 6 units Course list 1 below
3 units COMP SCI 1BA3
6 units from ECON 1B03, 1BB3 (or 1A06)
3 units from MATH 1A03, 1LS3, 1M03 (See Note 5 above.)
3-12 units Electives to total 30 units. See also the International/Cross-Cultural/Language Menu in this section of the Calendar.

Also what does it mean by 3-12 units? Does that mean it's our choice on how many electives we wish to take?

it says that for a full time business student you have to take 24-30 credits. would that not mean that i have to take the one manditory course that is worth 0 credits, plus 8 -10 courses? Equaling 9-11 courses total?

Yup.

Don't worry about COM 1PA0 though. It's a mandatory course but it's only an hour a week. It also has basically no workload.

Not quite; My understanding is that the 3-12 units depends on how many courses you are required to take. For example, I had 9 units of elective because in addition to my required courses, I had to take statistics, the equivalent of grade 12 data. If you took both data and calc in grade 12 then you would be able to have 4 three-unit electives, 2 three-unit electives and 1 six-unit elective or some other combination.

In case this is confusing or you're unsure, a course like comp sci 1BA3 ends in "3", meaning it is only one semester long and you get 3 units. Political science is a full year course and therefore the code ends in "6" meaning you'll get six units. Hope this helps!

You need to take 24 units (8 courses) in order to be considered full time and also be assessed for Commerce II.
In this case, it says 3-12 electives (1-4 courses) are required from that list.
It's really your choice to select how many electives you want to take
But like I said... You'll only be able to proceed to Commerce II only IF you have finished 8 courses successfully in first year.

Think about it this way.
In this program, you need a total of 120 units to be finished.
If you plan to graduate within 4 years, you should complete 30 units each year.
Either way, you'll have to make up those units to graduate if you choose to for example, take only 3 units of those electives for first year.

Maybe this would help too: http://www.degroote.mcmaster.ca/UG/business1.html

okay i dont really understand the master timetables for certain courses..after you've put in the course and you're looking at the times the course is offered, there's under "Comp" there are C01,etc.. and then T01,etc..what is the difference between the C and the T??

C = The lecture. I.e. The part of the course where you sit there for usually and hour listening to the prof talk about the material.

T = The tutorial. The part of the course where you're usually in a small classroom and a teaching assistant ges over and clarifies things or gives assignments.

(what goes on in lectures / tutorials vary by course.)
