Heating? When is it coming kenvin100 Residence & Housing 12 09-18-2008 05:04 PM

Cooling to Heating Switchover

Cooling to Heating Switchover

Many of you have wondered when the heating is going to be turned on and the air conditioning (if applicable) is going to be turned off. Here is the answer you're looking for!

Facility Services has been making the switch since Monday, and will continue to do so until Friday October 10th. This is for all buildings on campus, not just residences.

When you return (if you go away that is) Monday from Turkey Weekend your temperature should be adjusted. If you return and it is still cold however, go to the appropriate service desk in your quad and fill out a work order.

How much control over the heat do we have? Like in terms of changing the dial on the units in our room?

None, it is regulated through Housing, there is no dial in your room, or at least not one that you can use. If you're having a problem with the room not being warm enough you can go to your quad desk and talk to them about it but if there's nothing wrong with your heater then there's nothing they can do, it's set at a standard temp.

If your heat is through a radiator (like in Brandon...), there is a dial on the unit - I think it has high, medium, low, and off settings. I think last winter, our heat was almost always on low, just because the general building heat was sufficient.

its too bad theres no thermonstat so that the heat can come within a certain temperature in the room..so all residences have the low/med/high setting only?

when i lived in keyes there was a thermastat to change it to the tempreature you want. but it was one thermostat between two rooms in the apartment. all other ones i think only have the off/high/med/low. les prince only has that too and its so new too.
