I was wondering if anyone knew whether both were usually offered in the Summer to take?

I don't think I've ever heard of it being offered, that's exactly the problem that happens every year when Life Sci students try to get in. I remember the IA for the course even saying that it's never offered in the summer when I asked her way back in first year. So unfortunately, it's very unlikely that it will be offered in the summer :/

It hasn't been offered in the past 7 years. Sorry, you're probably out of luck.

I asked Chrisitane (she's the lab coordinator) and she said it will not be offered this summer. You could also check the mcmaster master timetable if you are curious about other courses : http://registrar.mcmaster.ca/scheduling/coursett.html

Thanks everyone for the replies, guess I'm going to need to re-take it next year.

It's ridiculous that mandatory courses such as these aren't offered in the Summer.

No, it's just not cost-effective. It's an easy course, very few people fail/need to take it in the summer--it's not like chemistry or math where a larger number of people fail and need to retake it.

The cost of paying the profs, lab coordinator, instructional assistant and TAs and all of the materials to actually run the labs is probably far higher than what would be worth it for the few students who would want to take the course in the summer. The course is already offered every year (many mandatory courses for smaller programs are only offered once every other year), considering only ~500 people each year have to take it, there's not really a reason to offer it in the summer.

There are lots of mandatory courses at Mac, there's no way they can offer them all in the summer.
