"ELM" or "Ee - el- em"?
So something I've noticed about our beloved new Learning Management System is that it has a convenient abbreviation that people tend to pronounce in one of two ways: either "ELM" (like the tree) or saying each individual letter "Ee-el-em".
I prefer the latter myself, since it's definitely not a tree. How do you pronounce it? Do you have a reason?

ELM. Ee-Ll-Mm is to much effort haha. And I for one like the word ELM reminds me of the ELM tree even though its not. Its definitly better than WebCT.

Elm. Because people still understand what I mean when I use it.
"I have assignments on ELM."
"Wut? You have assignments on a tree? MY WHOLE LIFE IS A [email protected]#@ ONE!!!"
XD

If you say E - L - M fast, it ends up sounding like "ELM" anyway.
I call it "ELM", like the tree, too, because it's faster.

Elm.
Pat was upset that it's destroying the reputation of a wonderful tree.

My phonetics teacher says El-m. Like LM. The rest of my profs says ELM, and I do as well. E-L-M takes too much time.

I kind of think calling it "elm" sounds stupid... the same way Bing sounds stupid. In this case however, I prefer to pronounce the letters because it's an abbreviation, rather than an actual word... similar to ASAP (eh-ess-eh-pee)
Feel free to laugh at how I write these things out phonetically :p

I normally just call it elm, like the tree, because it takes less effort to say. I now think that I should start pronouncing it "Eeeeeelm" though just to piss everyone off, lol.

I pronounce it eh-sap. elm is quicker to say and I'm too busy to be spelling out words or acronyms for people

Everyone is saying "its faster" and that's why they use one way over the other (which is totally fine), however we're talking fractions of a second here... nothing that would actually impact our lives.
I guess this brings up another topic for another thread... are people really that lazy, or is it because people can't think of a better reason?

I think it's because (for some reason) people think they're more important than they actually are, and thus, wasting a second of their precious lives is blasphemous. =P
Or they can't think of a better reason. Because I'm sure whether you say ELM or "EE EL EM," your plans for the day won't get pushed back. xD
