Getting an Eng Red suit.
How do I get my hands on an engineering red suit? Is trying out to be a red suit the only way?

You must attend one of the info sessions (last one is TODAY at 6pm) and they will tell you more about the process. Basically, since there is such demand and we can't take everybody - you must tryout. At yesterday's meeting we had 141 people come and overall reps we can only take around 120-130 so we're already having a lot of interest.

Trying out allows you to be a frosh controller in the upcoming frosh week. You will receive a redsuit as part of this. You are only a frosh controller for that week and you must try out every year - but you're a redsuit for life.

I'd advise everyone to try out!

In my first year, I wanted to try out but all my friends decided they were too busy, so I gave up on the idea. However, my TA for 1C03 (Hey Leila!) was a Red, and she convinced me to try out with her group of friends. Our tryout was fun, and I had a great time - and I ended up getting my Reds anyways.

I went from not even planning to try out to getting my Reds. How cool is that?

And your Reds aren't the only thing you get. You meet so many new friends, like other Reds, frosh controllers, first-years, etc. It really opens up a lot of doors because you're constantly meeting new people.

Some might consider Reds a 'popularity contest' but I recommend you not to think that way. Sure, our job requires us to meet new people and get out there, but the Frosh come first, and you should keep that as the main reason for trying out - to help new students and introduce them to the awesomeness that is Mac Eng.
