Hi there,
I will be registering and participating in this year's MacServe 2013 event in September. I really really regretted not going last year, and it was one of my biggest mistakes in first year, as I truly value community engagement, social justice, and school involvement so much, even if this event is only for a day (and short-term).
So I'm thinking of going with Big Brothers Big Sisters, St. Peter's Residence, or Eva Rothwell Centre.
If anyone has gone before, I would love to hear about your experiences and your recommendations, thank you so much!

I did mine two years at a Conservation area in Mississauga. We cleaned up along the shore and then removed invasive species in the forest. I think it's great that they have different locations and it's an awesome way to be engaged with social issues of your placement. Plus it's only 1 day so it's not a huge time commitment and you get a free lunch (awesome right?). I also meet some new people (students, alumni, etc) so I enjoyed that aspect as well. I followed up with MacServe Reading Week Trip that year (New Orleans) and last year (Vancouver). I definitely recommend it if you're thinking about it.
