Right. I was planning on applying to 1A03 - it's full. Am I stuck with 1LS3, or will I be able to fit in 1A03?

Is Math 1A03 required for your program? I'm assuming it is, well at least one of a number of math classes are. In that case, you can try to contact the math department and explain that you wish to take Math 1A03 for your course requirements. They may decide to open up a spot for you. If that fails, you can always keep checking once schedules are made and SOLAR re-opens on August 13th. People are bound to drop the class.

Well - I'm in Life Science so I need either 1LS3 or 1AO3. However, I want to take Calculus II (1AA3), along with further studies in higher maths, and I think 1AO3 would be better preparation...I emailed the science department with my concerns. Hopefully I'll get in...

i only changed my mind because i was afraid of university...
everybody kept saying how difficult it is to maintain the same marks you did in highschool.
and since i got 80s = 10 in highschool , i thought i will never ever get a 10 in math 1ls3 and then will never be able to use it in the future..
lol
the choice was as simple as that....
but once i got to university, i found it was actually not that difficult. however, i was still glad i took 1a03 because all the people i knew in 1ls3 said that it was boring and was basically a review of grade 12 with some additions.

Yeah, they might let you in. That is a pretty good reason, that you want to do further studies in Math.
If they don't just keep on trying, especially August 13th. Sometimes people forget or don't confirm their PA in July and get booted from their courses. Also, people may drop the course.

I want to peruse Psychology and Neuroscience in Level II.
Will I be hindered if I take 1LS3 instead of 1A03 (1A03 is full)
I hate you guys btw, I come back from work to realize that all the classes are full. FML

I believe a 10+ in 1LS3 counts as a credit in 1A03, so you certainly won't be hampered pre-requisite wise. As for knowledge lost in not taking 1A03, I'll have to let someone else answer that one.
Jeremy would most likely know.

I believe they both cover the same material but 1LS3 concentrates more on advanced functions and doesn't go in-depth into calculus like 1A03 does. Keep trying to get into 1A03 though, check every day even multiple times a day. Especially check on August 13th when Solar re-opens. You could also give e-mailing the department a try.

No way, 1LS3 is more advanced functions? That class in highschool was a complete joke. And after taking calculus and vectors the next semester it was an even bigger joke in retrospect.
This is bad, I'm in Life Science, shouldn't there be a spot for me in 1A03?
Can anyone confirm that 1LS3 is like advanced functions? And if so, what is the department's email address?

That's what I heard anyways, I heard they spent a lot of time on the material before derivatives.
A spot isn't guaranteed in 1A03 since you can take either 1A03 or 1LS3. You can try to contact the math department and ask for a seat. Chances of getting a seat increases if you plan to continue your math studies in future years.

Remember that if you get a 10 or better in it, it counts as 1A03 anyways.

Yeah we started off 1LS3 with y=mx+b...exponential functions, trig functions etc...and then a month or so in we started actual calculus and for me nothing was new until we started doing integration which was like..the last 3 weeks?
