Matls 4D03 - Corrosion
Dr. Kish is really excited about corrosion! He can ramble at times, but usually talks about concepts in an easy to understand and straightforward way.
We had tutorials once every few weeks for problem sets in which the TAs only answered questions, and they weren't the MOST helpful. Problem sets were hard at times. The mid term test was very early, but was also very difficult (memorization of random points in slides that we didnt think would be as important)
Assignments (4) 10%
Mid-Term Exam 20%
U/G Group Project (groups of 3 or 4) 30%
Final Exam 40%
The final projects were tough as well, and time consuming, but not too bad in the end. We had a few (4-6 I think) different problems and 3 groups per problem trying to investigate different solutions:
1. What is the corrosion mode? (All Groups)
2. What are the critical factors that drive this corrosion? (All Groups)
3. What are the possible materials solutions? (Groups 1,4,7,10,13,16)
4. What are the possible environment control solutions? (Groups 2,5,8,11,14,17)
5. What are the possible technological control solutions? (Groups 3,6,9,12,15,18)
6. What is the recommended solution? (All Groups)
Get ready for a buttload of research... and good luck!
