I realize you have to be able to swim to row, but do you have to have some sort of certification or something? I've never had lessons but can swim reasonably well, although I can't tread for very long. Is that going to be a problem?

Nope! When the novice crews are selected, there will be a mandatory swim test conducted in Ivor Wynne, where you'll tread water for a few minutes and then put on a life jacket while in the water.

I was in Dragonboat last year and had raced in some Dragonboat regattas, so would I still be considered a novice for rowing?

Often well over 50 people try out, and this year, we're looking to boat as many as 32 novices

Yes you will still be a novice for rowing as the two sports are considered unrelated since they are actually quite different. Hope to see you at tryouts!
