Wow, during Welcome Week they told us about the one in Bates and the one in the passageway, but I thought they were just stories...

I heard that it happened in the tunnel that connects wally and edwards but all those tunnels are closed now apparently.

It's true! She cut him up in the kitchen, which is locked at all times- seriously.
Sometimes we hear random banging around here, but there's never anyone in the halls when we hear it, doors slamming to rooms that were locked, the bathroom door periodically opening and shutting etc. Was in the basement around the second day I was here and it sounded like someone climbing the stairs, but no one was there.

It was definitely Edwards because they were the only two residences at the time.
I can't confirm if they are true or not but I've heard of the murder at Bates, Wally, rape in Cootes or behind Brandon, and numerous "incidents" in the underground tunnels that connect the campus-- which are all now closed (w/ the exception of tunnels in some of the NQ residences to Commons which aren't sketchy)

Just saddens me, there was a stabbing at my highschool today. :/ They survived, but in critical condition.

You shouldn't turn away from curiosity/information just because it's "depressing."
The unexamined life is not worth living.

Whoa, how many tunnels are there that are closed. Pretty freaky (but still awesome) that we are walking on top of abandoned tunnels XD

My sources tell me there have been 3 in the last 30 years. There was the one in the ravine by Brandon which to this day has not been solved. Then there was the murder of a prof in Chester New Hall in the earlier 80s... Then there was the most infamous one of in Bates in 1994.
3 murders in 30 years or so in a community of this size isn't a bad stat when you compare it to a non-university community. I think it speaks volumes as to how safe of a campus we actually have.

i know what you mean, obviously mcmaster doesnt want to advertise these crimes, but it seems there's no sort of local history of mcmaster that is easily accessible.

just sort of a historical interest combined with the ghost story feel. its kind of like why someone would want to know if someone was killed in their house, or why no one would want to live in the home of a serial killer. its just weird to think that a normal, vibrant campus could have something so terrible happen.
