Ideal for summer school
I know grades have come out recently and students are looking at their summer school options - I thought I'd mention that this course has been specifically designed for summer school since it will not be offered during the year. I totally understand that it can be difficult to cram a whole term's worth of material into a few short weeks so lectures have been designed with that in mind.

Course info
For those wondering about course material, these are the major points we'll cover:

1) The "wonder drug" phenomenon (i.e. Prozac, Viagra)
2) The interactions between drug companies and (a) academia, (b) practitioners, (c) patients
3) Pharmaceutical companies and the Developing World (i.e. Indian subcontinent, Subsaharan Africa)
4) The history of pharmaceutical medication
5) The "pharmaceuticalisatio n of everyday life."

Course work consists of one short assignment (based on completion), midterm (multiple choice/longer answer), a final (same format), and a short essay.

The required reading is one book only, will be available at the bookstore (hopefully less than $30).
