Recording lectures?
Can anybody tell me if students do this is normally? Maybe using the webcam on your laptop to record the lecture? I think this would be good because you could review it and pause/play so you don't miss anything important.

I think there are definately people that do this. I remember my friend use to record lectures on his webcam from the laptop. even thought apparently he never looked at any of it. i gues its reassuring I'm not sure if you should ask the professor just incase they don't want it.. maybe someone else can sugesst something. cause i'm sure some profs do not allow it. and others don't really care. but for sure people do it!

you are supposed to ask your professor before you record them and ask permission. If they are ok with it, you can either record from your laptop or you can request to have a tape recorder left on the podium.

I found the best way is to use a free audio program like Audacity and use a webcam mic or buy an external mic you plug into your laptop and record lectures, then organize them by folder.

NOTE: DO NOT expect to listen to your recorded lectures over later. You just don't have time to listen to an hour or more of recording PER class, PER day. You have too many classes a week that it would be ridiculous.

The only reason you would record lectures would be to refer back to them later if you're studying for a midterm and your notes (that are handtyped) are weak in some area that you need to recap on.

MAKE SURE to name the recording by date, class, AND lecture theme name so you know what you're listening to
