Rented Bikes
Hello!

I'm a commuter and I like biking so, I was wondering if there are bikes that can be rented from the university or is that service not even provided? It would be quite the hassle to keep on loading and unloading my bike from the buses each day and I can't leave it on campus.

Thanks in advance!

No bike rental program as far as I remember.

But there are a lot of bike racks around campus you can lock your bike up at. They also offer "Bike Lockers" for $40/semester http://www.mcmaster.ca/sustainabilit...clesafe.htm l

Hey Fennec!

Honestly, leaving your bike on campus is not too big of a deal, unless it is a really really good like $200 plus dollar bike, then I probably wouldn't leave it. (GET A DECENT LOCK?)

I lived on res last year and always left my bike overnight all over campus and it survived, haha.

Enjoy!

I left my $60 (used) bike for a week on campus while I went to Pakistan last year and it was still there when I came back. The condition of the bike helped I think.

Yeah leaving it on campus is no big deal, but don't do it in the main rack space please, use the hospital or something... racks near the student centre are very popular, don't be a prick.

Renting is definitely not worth it. You can get a basic MTB from Canadian Tire for about a hundred. Bikes have been reported stolen so investing in a good lock is probably a good idea. In terms of where to lock the bike, I would auggest near one of the residence buildings in north quad. Doubt anyone will make the effort to go that far to take a bike and they tend to be a bit of a high traffic area.
