Rowing with Engineer
Hi,
I'm coming to Mcmaster this September for Engineering. I wanted to ask, if joining the rowing team and managing engineering courses is a good idea.

While I'm not in engineering, I knew a lot of people in first year who were. As you probably know already, the first year engineering course load is much heavier than other faculties. This compounded with the fact that University is very different and often harder than what you were used to in high school might cause the majority of your time to be consumed already.

However, you shouldn't turn your back on extra-curriculars. I'd suggest joining the Rowing team if that's something you enjoy, as it will act as a good balance from your school work. At the end of the day, I'm sure you'll be able to manage it along with your course work as long as you don't slack off a lot!

I know a couple of people who have done it and they seem to be able to handle both. So as long as it's something you want to do then try and manage your time so you can handle it.

it all depends on your time management skill. engineering 1 definitely have more work load than other faculties but it sure is manageable. just dont slack on ur work nd go to lectures even if they r at 8:30 am, YES u will miss those early lectures cuz u were prolly working on a project or studying fr midterm all night.
