There is a research study being conducted in Hamilton over the summer (from middle of May to mid September) which involves full body resistance training at McMaster University 4 days/week for 16 weeks. All training sessions will be supervised and participants will receive a free protein supplement after each workout.
To participate in this study, you need to be a sedentary or recreationally active (resistance training 2 or less times per week) male between the ages of 18 and 35. During the study you will be allowed to be active for up to 2 hours per week (basketball, soccer, etc.) but no endurance training.
On top of the training you will have to commit time for pre- and post assessment. These will include an MRI and DEXA scan as well as strength testing. In addition, you would also undergo 9 muscle biopsies from your vastus lateralis muscles.
At the conclusion of the study, subjects will receive $700.
