That's quite a remarkable. One thing caught my attention was China's bubble between 1958 to 1961: It suddenly dipped from above 50 years to around 30. It turns out this was caused by the Great Chinese Famine, when an estimated 20 to 43 million people died. I've never heard about this.

What does Apple have to do with this? Am I missing something?

First (and really the only) thing I noticed was the apple computer.

Well, I don't think it stood out. It's not like Macs are a rare sight. They're quite common, especially in video production.

This is off-topic anyways.

Yep, Hans Rosling gave this presentation during the TED conference a while back. Still pretty interesting.

Interesting find. I wonder what his justification for using a log scale for the income was, though

let's stop a bit to look at 1948
1948 was a great year, the war was over, Sweden took the metal at the Winter Olympics, and I was born.

Even cooler because I know a lot of history...like the Chinese famine that was mentioned.

There was a major drop in one of the European countries at like 1944. I wonder if that was Poland? There was also a drop in 30s by what i think was Russia, which falls in line with collectivization and Stalin's purges... Might have seen the Rwandan genocide too, but with all the issues in Africa, I can't be sure.

Watching China in the 40s-60s really underscores how crazy Mao was.

I love his whole thing about WWI "What a catastrophe!!"

Very cool stuff. I wish they labeled more, though.
