2010 in Hindsight: Share Your Stories!
2010 is officially gone, and 2011 is here. I hope everyone is looking forward to another year full of amazing experiences, and possibly a few weeks where you still write 2010 in the date out of habit.
While it is fun to look ahead at the new year, it's also just as much fun to look back. It's a tradition among my friends and I to get together on New Year's day and share all our favorite experiences, and interesting tidbits of info that made the year memorable.
So how about you MI? What made 2010 a year to remember for you? What experiences are you going to remember for the rest of your life? What new knowledge shocked and amazed you? What happened to help you grow into the person you are now?

One word: skydiving.
Only time I've ever really experienced happiness.

A friend of mine passed away on November 28, 2010. He was a member of this site too, actually, you may have seen him around on the forums at some point.
He was like a little brother to me, and when he passed, it was a big shock. I couldn't imagine going to class and not seeing him there; not seeing him at the bus stop, in the student centre, or waiting for class outside bsb 147.
He was the most optimistic, hardworking kid I've ever met, and he always faced each challenge with a smile. When he was gone, just like that, it made me realize just how trivial my problems were. What's a few missed busses or failed midterms, as long as you have the people you care about around you?
r.i.p imtiaz, you taught me so much about life, and I wish you could've been here to celebrate the new year with us.

Wow, that blows.
World needs more legitimate friends like you, though.

Sounds like your year beat mine in terms of most awesome experience. Hopefully you find a way to outdo yourself this year. Bungee jumping over a rushing river perhaps?
Edit: the only time? what about gladiator?

I've heard people say you judge the value of a person's life by how much they are missed when they are gone. To have had friends who cared about him so much, he must have been a truly amazing person.
Thanks for sharing with us, despite how hard it might be.

Well, I plan on outdoing it with the exact same activity... planning on doing the weekend long thing where they teaach you how to jump by yourself. You get like 5 jumps. It's gonna be amazing.
(Gladiator is just a movie. )

couldn't agree more. we should all strive to be people who leave that kind of imprint on people's hearts.
no problem. I felt I owed it to him, since he was also a member here. I only regret not saying anything sooner.

I deleted my previous post because I was afraid of criticism .. There is too much hate on here. But I realized that I am stronger than this so what the heck ..
I attempted suicide three times in the past year. The last year have been like living in hell. And my only distraction was school ... I am glad I made it to 2011 but I don't really know what awaits me this year.
I really hate my life.

If you're my friend on Facebook then you know everything you need to and more.
If you're not, then...I dunno.
Also, I met a bunch of celebrities this year. I didn't really get much of a chance to hold full conversations with any, but it was a great experience nonetheless. I don't worship them or anything, but I do have a lot of respect for their talents (and when applicable, good looks).
I've encountered: Stars, Felicia Day, Summer Glau, Johnny Yong Bosch, Yoshitaka Amano, Nobuo Uematsu, and Arnie Roth.
