It's probably that there wasn't enough space in honours social psych, but I'm very confused about why I got into BComm and not Honours Social Psychology....

Its simple, you got into B Com simply because the demand must have been low this year, where as the demand for Social psych must have been higher and with these demands applicants for social psych likely had a required average greater than 6.9.
