3rd Year Biology & Pharmacology coop?
Hi,
I just have question regarding third year program: Biology & Pharmacology.
From my understanding, to enroll into this 3rd year program, it doesn't matter which life sci program you're in, correct?
And also how hard is it to get into the their coop program? and how many are generally in this program?

Anyone can apply for this program required that they've completed the prerequisite courses.
The program I've heard is very competitive and it involves an interview in addition to looking at your cumulative average. From what I've heard, there are about 20 people in this program roughly.

I think applications are in January and the interview will be panel based, so different individuals (professors, the coop office representative, maybe alumni?) will be asking you questions and that along with your marks will determine whether or not you'll get in.

That's not true. It's a very competitive program. Both marks and the interview matter. A strong interview can make up for a slightly lower average, but you still need something decent.

There are 20 people admitted into the program every year, coming from every program. What Thai-Son and Star have said are correct. The interview panel consists of about 5-6 people: faculty members, co-op staff and a masters student. They ask questions based on your resume and general job interview questions. Make sure you have all the prerequisite courses (Bio 2A03 in particular)!

If you don't have bio 2A03 you can still get a conditional acceptance into the program

That is true (happened to me), so I had to summer school it online at Athabasca, and that wasn't quite a good experience.

I don't know if they'll give you conditional acceptance with three courses that haven't yet been completed, that's really something that you should ask the co-op office or the bio/pharm department.

When I applied, I let them know that I was taking the equivalent of Bio2A03 through the summer at Athabasca. You would have to get a letter of permission for that though. If you are missing the orgos and bio2A03, my suggestion would be to apply the following year. If you try and cram all three of those courses into one summer, you may have a bad time.
