Am I already falling behind in studies?
This first week of class has been so so for me. I'm still trying to adjust to everything. But so far in my first week of class I did not print off any slides for chem or bio as I see most people are. I haven't made on them yet.
I was planning to do some this weekend. But am I already falling behind? And for some reason for some lectures my eyes start falling asleep almost. I have to slap my face just to keep myself from sleeping . Is it just me or am I not getting enough sleep?

Yes to both questions. It's definitely not impossible to catch up AND get some sleep. You just have to dedicate more of your free time to studying.
Oh, and um...it's going to be the 3rd week of classes already on Monday.

Don't worry. I'm falling behind, too, so it's not just you. Just try to catch up best you can. It's your first year, so it happens, it's overwhelming. Take it step by step. The problem is not the lack of time, but lack of management. I've started second year and I've still not managed to master it. So yeah...don't worry. It happens, but don't let this mean you slack off. Spend a few solid hours catching up...it'll get easier when you do it. Good luck.
EDIT: Oh, right...here I was going "It's only been two weeks!" and...well, in another couple weeks we'll already be head-deep in midterms and a month through school. Wow.
Oh, also, OP...the first year will end before you realize that it's begun. Trust me.

No you aren't! Last year I felt the exact same way, but when telling an upper year he said it was "first year mentality" to always feel like you are behind. Just try to do the most you can, with getting enough sleep.

...As justinstw said, you do realize that we've had over two weeks of classes right? >_>
And for classes that have lectures on Thurs/Fri, those classes have had almost three weeks of classes.
You're likely tired because you've been lazing around in the summer and now you're walking around campus all day, not eating as well, forced to focus for whatever number of hours at a time, and so forth. Most people get used to it within a week or two I suppose. You should also be getting tired and unable to focus at night, and then sleeping and waking up and feeling a little more refreshed. If you aren't sleeping early enough then you will feel tired in your classes instead.
And yes, you are already falling behind. People are telling you that you can catch up, which is fine, but it's inaccurate to say that you are exactly where you should be. Ideally you should be caught up and ahead of the lectures.
Just start printing lectures, and go over what they've already done this weekend and start doing some homework or whatever and go from there.

It's this kind of insightful advice that people come to MI for.
Thanks for answering the question.
(I'm being sarcastic in case it wasn't blatantly obvious)

If you haven't done things that you should have already, then yes, you are falling behind...most likely because you're wasting time on things that don't actually need to be done. This can be fixed by developing better time management skills and not procrastinating.
Printing notes for all your classes should take no more than half an hour unless you have major printer issues...it shouldn't be a huge deal to find time to print these.
If you're falling asleep in class, then either you're not getting enough sleep or there is something medically wrong. We can't tell you if you're getting enough sleep since you didn't say how much you get per night, but if you're falling asleep during the day then something is wrong/needs to change.

You're only a couple weeks behind so it won't be too difficult to catch up! I'm already behind on my readings but I'm working this weekend to bring myself up to par. You can do it, don't lose heart!

The fact that your falling asleep in class has more to do with first year science classes in general then your lack of sleep if I had to guess.

If that's the case, then you're in the wrong program.

Or your highschool had competent teachers to teach you the material. I found myself sleeping a lot in first year since it was largely review.
