listen! as everyone else said, ur not alone. I felt the same (even to this day) and my first year eng friends are complaining the same thing too... So pls dont feel lost. Its true first year is quite a Step up... u just need to find ur mojo (Austin Powers ) (wht works for u)

Finish something: it will motivate u to continue do more!

1: Print off slides, look over them. Coz the text books will seem over whelming @ this point. Although, try to skim thru ur textboox: read the titles and look @ the diagrams

2: Try getting a bit more sleep and cut out on fun & partying... theres never a deficiency in parties

3: Start taking down notes in class: so u can grasp some of wht the proff says

4: Take some time to list out all the assignment due dates and test dates on a Calender (Google calender is great)

I know this seems like alot, but u have no choice... no one ever said uni was easy!

I found a huge part of first year to be review as well...I still wasn't bored or sleeping, except for in the subjects I had zero interest in.

Me too! Bio 3U03 is nasty - the book is like a tree and super dense. Even the shortness of the chapters doesn't make up for it - we have to read 2-4 each lecture, lol.

OP; you are behind. The academic HS workload is a joke compared to university. You have to work harder - you should get into it eventually. Prioritize, etc. As for sleeping, well we can't know that, but I would guess overtired because you are behind/stressing out over it. Try sitting near the front.

Won't work. Been there, done that, failed, had the prof joke about it, too, when I asked her a question afterwards, though I'm not sure about it because I was still a little dazed.

I have to agree.

During second semester last year, I started to fall asleep in nearly every BIO 1M03 class so I decided to sit in the front row. I figured I'd never doze off because I wouldn't want to look like an idiot in front of Dr. Stone. About 5 minutes into class, I was lights out for the rest of the lecture and I never sat anywhere but the back afterwards.

tl;dr: If you're sleepy don't waste your time, just stay home.

Even if you haven't done anything in chem and bio, they are easy to catch up in. Bio takes like an hour a chapter at this point especially since it's just a review and kajuira's slides are easy. Chem was all review except for chapter 8 which was like half review. All you need to do is read the chapters in bio and for chem do the assigned questions. Chapter 8 in chem is stuff you should do to get familiar with the new equations, but everything before that was review of high school so for the review do whatever you think you need to improve on. You can easily catch up in a day even if you remember nothing from high school.

About the comment on not printing off any slides, I would just tell you that I am in third year now and I never printed slides for any course. You just have to find what works for you i guess. Just because everyone prints them doesn't mean you have to. You can take your laptop or just jot down important information in a notebook/clipboard/loose paper.

I was planning to do some this weekend. But am I already falling behind? And for some reason for some lectures my eyes start falling asleep almost. I have to slap my face just to keep myself from sleeping . Is it just me or am I not getting enough sleep?

are you in first year? I remember that for me it was really useful to plan out my studying. That way, I got my studying done, and I wasn't stressing instead of sleeping because I knew when I would be studying what.
