Am i too old ?
Hey everyone,
I was accepted into Mac for this fall and i'll be starting in Jan.
These past months i have been feeling like i'm too old to start university (i'm 22) and was thinking about doing something else instead. I would like to know your opinions about this ... what do you guys think? is it okay for someone my age to start now ? are there others who start this late?
Thank you !

There's definitely nothing wrong with that! Besides, people come back to do second degrees and are 21, 22-ish when they start that.

What exactly is making you think that, because there is a whole range of ages in every class.

You're never to old to advance your education. There are definitely others who start around your age.

I started at Mac when I was 24 (I'm in second year now). I've rarely felt 'too old' and there are always people ten or twenty years older than I am in my classes as well.

I think a lot of it comes down to lifestyle. In addition to being in my mid twenties, I'm married and have a toddler. So I have zero interest in going out and partying. If you're into that kind of stuff you'll fit in just fine. If not, it takes a bit more work in joining clubs/activities to get to know people - but really that applies to EVERYONE in their first year of university, regardless of age.

You're not too old to start your education now. I have classmates in my program who are in their 40's and 50's and they are at school...

Not at all. I know a guy who is in his late 40s doing engineering now.

Even (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilt...eams-1.2447373) Tyler Johnson was around 26 when he joined engineering. Rip.

I started at 21 and I knew a guy that was also in his 40's studying engineering. It's never too late to have a learning experience.

I'm 28 and in second year Don't worry about it! Once someone is over about 20 it is really hard to judge their age
