Well, I agree that the strike may seem temporarily advantageous but I think that it's a bit inconsiderate to laugh about it.
Ben's standing up for his views and passionately defending them as are many other people, including CUPE's Derek and that's worth applauding.
Yes, striking does mean an end to annoying iClicker questions in Chem 1A03 tutorials for a bit, but in the long run it grows to become a serious problem.
- It affects the university's reputation if our strike drags on forever (see: York)
- It affects TA's who have to deal with the issue of wanting to help their students yet having to run the risk of being inconvenienced by the CUPE (see: Mike (Mowicz), AYuen (Can't recollect), PTDGreg (Greg), etc)
- It affects commuters who have to run all the way across campus for their damn buses and to get to class
- It affects students who have unreasonable professors and whose TA's would fight against that to ensure that the classes got the marks they deserve
- It affects the students who also put in a genuine effort and are greatly helped by a TA explaining redox reactions in a straightforward manner
It's not all that funny to me, though you are entitled to your opinion.

I agree 1000000%. I find it beyond disrespectful and inconsiderate to laugh about this whole situation, especially at Ben. He's saying his opinion just like any other student who cares about their education, and Mac. All of us are affected by this, sure your workload will be a bit lighter for a while, but how long will it last, a week? 2 weeks? 3 months even? No worries, it'll end up catching up to you in no time at all. And we'll be the ones paying for it with spending our summer in class, or by any other means.
If that's how you see the situation, then I recommend you have all the fun you can now, because I can guarantee it won't last.

This strike is detrimental towards Mcmasters reputation of being a prestigious University. In fact ive been getting teased by my friends at Western because of the strike. For example a friend of mine just left this on my facebook wall.
"Why is it so windy in Hamilton? Cus McMaster blows."

I suppose it's a bit funny because when you look at Sara's words literally, they don't make a whole lot of sense.
But don't all jump to defend or interpret her correctly at once now. She's saying if you have the mentality to find this whole situation humourous, then perhaps university isn't the place for you...you may not have a sufficient level of maturity.
And she may be right.

Sara, could you explain what you are saying? It just isn't exactly clear.
