It's a pretty big commitment. You are basically at every practice and game, so it's almost like you have the schedule of a varsity athlete yourself, just not competing. From what my friends said, it was a pretty rewarding experience depending on what team they are placed with. Clearly, if the applicant has no experience, they won't be placing you with the varsity men's football team, but most people start out with smaller teams like squash, tennis, or badminton.
Time commitment is pretty big. I've heard my friends saying how sometimes they didn't really enjoy it because it was really time consuming, and as a FIELD therapist, they basically had to 'wait and watch' for athletes to get injured.
Otherwise, I think it's it's something you think you'd be really interested in/can commit to, go for it! They also do like bi-weekly sessions with strength and conditioning coaches where you learn basic skills such as icing, taping, elevating, to treat/prevent minor injuries, etc.
