Apple - Mac Applications
Hey everyone,

Just recently got tired of hitching a ride on the PB bandwagon and decided to buy a MAC. Harmless enough it seems. I've downloaded pages and have been using it for a month or so, for those who don't know pages is the MAC "equivalent" of Microsoft Word. I have noticed a number of people who have different note taking apps on their macs which they use in class. The apps have tabs for different classes/ different dates of when they took the notes and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. Ideally the simpler the better, I'm not looking to intertwine PDF, images, or any of the other fancy things found on some apps. Just looking for a nice and simple note taking app that isn't going to send me on a week long learning curve.

Many Thanks,

Macs come with a ton of pre-loaded software. "Preview" used to view PDFs has a built in editor already. Also MS 2010 is available for MacBooks. Compared to Macs own word processing software it's a lot better.

Ive found Microsoft OneNote is amazing for taking notes since you click anywhere on the page, it dates it, syncs it online (if you want) and its really easy to add pics and pdfs to it. Try to see if you can find a Mac equivilant to it

There is Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac. You can get it from Titles at a discounted $94.99 (or thereabouts).

There is no Microsoft OneNote for Mac. However, Word has a Notebook Layout which makes it really easy to take and organize notes by subject and topic. It has notebook-like tabs so you can take notes from multiple topics or courses in one document.

Also, you can record audio with your notes while you're typing, and it'll display an icon at the position on the page where you started recording. Essentially, you can voice-annotate your notes, and synchronize the flow of your recording with your notes.

However, it is the general consensus that Pages is better than Word. It doesn't have any of the notetaking features like Word 2011, but in terms of ease of use for layout or just regular typing (for essays, etc.), it's a lot better. Same goes for Keynote; in fact, it blows Powerpoint out of the water. It's only Excel which beats its iWork counterpart, and OneNote, an amazing piece of software for which there is almost no replacement.

In my original post a made a typo "PB" was supposed to be "PC"

That's excellent thanks guys for all the suggestions you came up with. A friend of mine has one note for PC and I was looking for some of the equivalents out there that they may have for mac. To keep things nice and simple I may just look into getting word for mac, just because it's a familiar program to what we are all used to using.
