Yeah one of the dispatchers at my work was talking about it. Apparently a lot of them are going to become "Metro" which I have never heard of but is apparently supposed to be more expensive. Personally I don't shop at the Barn if I can help it, their produce isn't the best and their meat is always fatty.

Yeah. I always end up going to the Farmer's Market... its sooo worth the trip. Its cheap AND fresh!

In my opinion, the Barn is a crappier version of Sobeys.

But i suppose I could go to Fortinos too... I've never been there though.

A lot of stores are renaming to "metro". There was an article about it somewhere...

Yeah I go to Farmers Market too! Sometimes I'm a bit iffy on their produce but their fruit (esp grapes!!) is super cheap compared to groceries stores.

I like fortinos cause it's close to me and they sell no name brand which is usually cheaper for us poor student budget people!

Is the Barn changing its hours or what it sells? I like the Barn because it's the only place I can go to buy food 24/7 when everything else is closed.

Freakin The Barn is such a ripoff. But yeah, Metro is in Quebec so they're changing these stores into the Metro as well.. I saw it on the news a while back. But YAY Fortinos.

P.S Mitch, I don't think they're changing the hours.. maybe the stuff they're selling is different though. Not 100% sure though. I got the impression from what I saw on the news that it's just the name and the look that are changing.

I don't think they are changing anything about the store itself. They say that it's not the name that makes the store, it's the location, what they sell, the hours they are open. They just opted to change the name because it's more modern.

I go to the barn sometimes if I need a few odds and ends just because it's closest and it's convenient. When I'm doing a big shopping I often go to Fortinos...depending on where the deals are.

To be honest though, the prices in Fortinos and the Barn are really similar.... also, the cost of veggies and things in the farmer's market really aren't much of a deal in comparison to the grocery stores. I try to compare the three places as much as possible in order to get the most for my money. There's a few things that I know I can get a deal on in the farmer's market... or I go there to get local fruits and veggies (if there are some... most of them don't come from Ontario, or Canada even). You can get good local produce at Fortinos for the same price.
