Best/Craziest Course Ever????
So...
I'm going into my last year at Mac ( ), and I want to take an elective that's...really, really interesting. Maybe a little off-the-wall. I'm wondering what you folks would say is a) the best course you've ever taken (not looking for hassle with the TA's or huge lecture halls, etc.) and b) the craziest course you've ever taken (crazy as in interesting with a little off-the-wall, maybe creative aspect to it?
Thanks!

2R03 is subjective. Like most courses, it depends on the prof. I took this course in the summer of 2011 and the prof was Dr. Stephen. I like him because he cares about course material and he's very nice, but some people don't like him because he stutters and goes off topic a lot. He also takes a really long time to answer a question in class. Also, the reading material was mostly medieval. We read the original Morte D'Arthur stories by Thomas Malory, Beowulf, Dr. Faustus and the Tempest (among others). This is not necessarily easy reading because the language is so old fashioned and the spelling is so out of whack with what we read today. When I signed up for this class, I was expecting to read books like Dracula, Strange Case of Jekyll and Hyde and Frankenstein, but that wasn't the case at all.
Ultimately, I really enjoyed this course, but I'd definitely suggest that you take great consideration before signing up for it. It's not for everybody.
But then, that can be said for every course.

Hee, hee, so true. I like him because he gave me over 100% on an exam once, but he does come across as a little scatterbrained...

Yeah, one of the good things is that his courses aren't difficult as long as you do the readings. He's pretty lax with essay style. I did well in both classes I took with him. Overall, knowing that he's teaching a specific course wouldn't turn me off of it, but it also wouldn't make me want to take it specifically because he's the professor.

I've always been under the impression that English 2R03 has been chock full and getting a seat is a bit of a hassle.
Anyway, since we're on the topic, is Monsters and Magic usually a first or second term course? Sort of a silly question but ... eh.

I haven't taken it yet, but the sociology of sexuality 3rd year course looks good.
