Bio 1a03
Hey...this is my first question here on this great site
In terms of Bio 1A03...I am extremely rusty in grade 12 biology. Can someone please let me know if it is necesarry to have a working memory of grade 12 biology or will I be able to be MORE than successful entering into BIO 1a03 without refreshing my memory?

You'll be fine, all the information is self-contained as far as I remember.
1A03 isn't some great university experience. You're going to learn a bunch of information, write it on some pre-made notes and then memorize it for the tests.
The very first day your prof (Kajiura) will say "This course is about learning, not memorization." She's lying.

I went into first year uni after a gap year. I did revise gr 12 bio, but in the end, it didn't really matter. The first part of the course is relatively easy MEMORIZATION.

The first year Biology department isn't a very great university experience. I thought Kajiura was bad, but then the next profs just got consecutively worse

Lol seriously? I hated Dr. Boreham. I thought he was pretty cool at the beginning, but then he just got worse. He tests on details, not concepts. His questions are useless outside of 1A03; I didn't learn anything with him.

I liked Boreham because by that point in the course, I had given up on learning anything. He tested a lot of random facts but at least he accepted that he was asking us to memorize. Kajiura acted as if she was teaching us despite the fact that she posted the full notes online and never deviated from them on tests.
Boreham brought in some cool guest speakers and overall he made it a pretty fun class to attend.
Also, he did some cool research and you could tell teaching wasn't his main priority. Kajiura didn't seem to do anything outside of her teaching and I personally hated her.

Click Forums from the top bar (Home, Chat, Forums, Advice & Tips, etc..), go to the forum you want to post in (likely First-Year Questions) and then click "New Thread" (should be on upper left side).

From any page, press "Forums" near the top of the page, and choose "Show all forums" or any other forum heading that would apply. If you pressed the former, then click the forum heading that applies the most to the topic you are creating.
At this point, you just need to click on the big, dark gray "New Thread" button and you're at the thread creation screen.
EDIT: FFFFUuuuUUuUUU.... Ninja'd.

I was very rusty with bio from high school going into this course but they go fairly slow in the beginning and get you on track. Tests weren't too bad. Boreham liked to mix up the wording of questions to throw you off, but it wasn't that bad. Just hope that you get a lab TA that knows what they're doing haha

You won't need to remember anything from grade 12 - however, the course is basically gr. 12 review with a little extra detail. The testing is on minute details, so it's all rote memorization. There's no particular aptitude required.
As others have already said, it's not really that good of a course.

Would it be hard taking both bio1a03 and bio 1m03 in the same term? Or should I split them up, bio 1a03 first 1m03 second?

I did this in first year, it's easily manageable. Don't worry about that at all, in your upper years you'll be taking probably 3+ courses a semester all in biology :p
