Hey,

The textbook was actually quite usefulf for me
when studying because it gave background knowledge on what was being taught during lectures and the lecture notes, for the most part, paralleled the textbook content. You also need it for tutorial problems. I think it is a really good textbook with good basic practice problems to test your knowledge and some application based problems as well. As the course progressed, it became more difficult to follow the course through the textbook because everything was all over the place, but otherwise, I would definetly recommend getting it since some of the stuff that was tested was not taught and you have to learn it yourself from the textbook. I had Dr.Dudley, and she used Dr. Dej's lecture notes. Hope that helps!

I didn't buy the textbook, I did fine without it. (Or, I was doing fine before the exam, we'll have to see my final mark still )

The tutorials are a bit more difficult without it, but as long as you make friends with someone in your tutorial who has it you're fine.
