BIO 2F03 summer with Lyndsay Cartwright
Hi guys,

So I was wondering if anyone had tips on how to do well in this course.
The prof said the textbook is not required, so I guess it's all from the slides.
She said questions from lab material might appear on exams but from my experience with other courses, studying lab material for finals and midterms is usually a waste of time and would have been spent better studying the lecture material

Thanks

I had her last year. Honestly, the course is very straightforward. The questions are pretty much straight from the slides, and I dont think many questions (if any) were from the labs. The labs aren't really "test" worthy - they should really be called tutorials, as they're based around creative skits concerning ecological issues (pretty fun, actually). If you don't really have a background in ecology/it doesn't interest you THAT much, then the textbook may be worth it to reinforce important concepts and give you specific examples of things. I remember a number of questions would provide you with a specific example of an ecological phenomenon and you would have to recognize that concept and/or apply it. Test/exam are both MC (thank god). Easy course if you understand the concepts, what they mean in an ecological sense, and have a background knowledge of plants/animals/the environment that you can draw from to help you along the way and put the concepts into perspective. Dr. Cartwright is young, passionate and pretty clear. Her tests are fair. Good luck!
