BIO1M03 & Psych1XX3 Tutorials
Hey, just a couple of questions:

My Psych 1XX3 core is on a Monday. Is it better to have my tutorial earlier in the week or later in the week, and if earlier in the week.. would it be okay to have it on a Monday right after my core?
Are the tutorials like 1X03 where we discuss materials covered in the lecture?

Also, anyone who's taken Bio 1M03, what are the tutorials for? and again, is it better to have the tutorials later in the week or earlier in the week.

Thanks for helping me out!

Psych, it's exactly the same as X03, and honestly, it doesn't really matter when it happens.

For Bio, you have pre-tutorial quizzes and then you have assignments to do during the tutorial, not to mention the PBL project you'll be assigned (+ presentation). Again, doesn't really make a difference when you have it.

For psych...if I recall correctly they just go over the online lectures. So it doesn't matter.

For bio...it absolutely doesn't matter when.

For psych 1xx3, the tutorials are basically a place where you get to apply what you've learned in the lectures, and at the beginning there's usually a mini-review session. You get marks based on participation, and I felt they helped with the material.
Bio 1m03 tutorials covered a variety of different material, but there is also a PBL project involved. I would say that the actual time of the tutorials isn't very important, but it's not such a good idea to miss any of them since there are marks for attendance in psych, and assignments to submit for bio. .

Bio tutorials are just like mini-lectures in my opintion except you participate.

So here's the routine: you just do a pre-tutorial quiz based on a tutorial package they upload on Avenue. You do the quizzes before you go to your tutorials. The TAs would teach for a short while and you would go through some class discussion and some simple activites. So it's very simple and just not much different than your typical highschool setting because the class size consist of about maybe 30 ppl. Then you do the assignment component of the tutorial package after the tutorial and this takes about an hour. You hand in the assignment the day following your tutorial.

I would recommend you get your tutorial stuff done with so early in the week so you don't drag it throughout the week. But, it will depend if you are more busy earlier or later in the week.

Hope I answered what your questions.
