Biochem 2EE3 Take it or No?
Some background info: the course is in second term. Currently in solar i have:

CHEM 2OB3
HTH SCI 2D06
HTH SCI 2K03
HTH SCI 2A03
PSYCH 2NF3

BIOCHEM 2EE3 has the same time and days as PSYCH 2NF3. I'm doing a psych minor. I can push back PSYCH 2NF3 into third year if I replace it with BIOCHEM 2EE3. I'm considering BIOCHEM 2EE3 only because I need a full year of biochem in order to apply to UBC's medical school.

Questions:

1. How much memorization does this course have? Let's compare it to kinesiology's first year anatomy courses, or PSYCH 1XX3.
2. I don't dislike the course description but i'm not jumping up and down. Should I take it at all?
3. How's the prof? I heard his tests expects us to know tiny details.
4. Overall experience?
5. Any other suggestions/comments/opinions?

Thank you in advance!

Super easy bird course. Yeah you'll have to memorize really irrelevant details (ie. how long was the prebiotic era) but the tests are all mc and it's still easy despite that. It was one of the easiest courses I took at Mac (along with MATH 1LS3).

A lot of memorization - basically every point on every slide of the course. Some are more high yield / likely to show up than others, but it's not easy determining which is which, so you'll have to memorize everything.

Take it if you need it or want to. It's not the greatest course, but it's not a huge amount of work if you're good at cramming.

Prof is awful lol, he's a nice guy and he's pretty cute but teaching is abysmal. I skipped tons of classes in this course.

Overall experience was awful, I didn't memorize like 3 random facts, got a few wrong on his first midterm, and since its 25 questions 30% of your final I had already lost 6% of my final mark within the first test. But I still ended up with a 12 surprisingly, so I guess it worked out in the end.

memorize everything* on the slides and you'll get a 12. lectures optional.

*actually there are some things that he'll say are too difficult (ex. diff vitamin structures) so you dont even need to know those... just memorizing term definitions and random numbers and you'll be good.

Apparently UBC does, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of med schools in the States also require it. I know optometry schools do.

Some do, yes. I looked quickly through some of them:
U of Alberta requires one half-year Biochem course.
UBC, U of Manitoba, U of Ottawa, U of Sask, require 1 full-year Biochem course.

Take biochem 2ee3 u dont even have to go to class, i went but it was useless. just memorize every single detail on the slides before the tests and u will be set. Psych 2NF3 is a new course and no reviews are on it yet.

lot's of memo but most of them you prob learned already in 1st year of high school
not as much memo as 1st year anatomy
the prof is a really nice guy but tells silly jokes that only himself would laugh
over all easy course, all u need to do is just read the notes and u can get a 11 or 12

You don't really need the textbook for this, I don't know anyone that used it. You just have to memorize everything on the slides.
