Biology 2EE3 Textbook
I wanted to get a head start on the readings for this class, but according to the titles website they don't have the textbook in yet! Or, does anyone know if I could just borrow the textbook from the library for the rest of the summer? Thank you!!

Yeah you could borrow it from the library if they have a copy, and then keep renewing it. I saw today that Titles is already putting textbooks out, but I don't think they're on sale yet. :p

Oh, you could probably search the Mac library website if they have a copy instead of going all the way over there.

I just looked on the library website and it says that the professor's copy is checked in. Does this mean that I can't borrow it? I'm not sure what the significance of "Professor's Copy" is haha

While the information from lecture is good enough to do well in the class, the diagrams sometimes help explain things. That being said, I still use this as a reference text for other things. If you are into research/Biology its always good to ahve a microbiology text on hand. Since its not used that much in the class its really easy to get a used copy that looks like new off someone, I paid 80 for mine.

Titles hasn't posted the course materials for this fall on their website yet. Does anyone know what the book is called and who the author is?
Thanks in advance.

Last year, the microbiology textbook was: Microbiology: An Evolving Science by Slonczewski, JL and Foster, JW (WW Norton & Company, Inc., 2009).

There's no guarantee it will be the same this year, but if the profs are same there's a good chance. 2009 is pretty new so I doubt they've got a new edition out already, but it's possible. If it is your textbook, it's pretty good! I didn't take microbiology but used the textbook for a couple of projects last year.

Don't rush out to buy that book yet, though! It's generally advisable to wait til the first class to make sure you're buying what you need, in case of last-minute changes not on the titles website and whatnot. Titles should begin posting booklists within the next couple of weeks, but they have to wait until they get the orders from the profs.
