Biology 3po3 and 3ff3
Hey everyone, I was wondering if I could get a bit of advice for these two courses, I have read all the course reviews and have been getting mixed thoughts from different people. Is bio 3p03 really brutal in terms of testing? That seems to be what I am hearing the most...like how bad is it? If we do tutorials, read the textbook and pay attention in lecture and understand stuff, is there a chance to do well? Also, does anyone know how we get the 5 percent from tutorial if tutorial homework isn't actually marked? Is it participation?

How about biology 3ff3? I thought it was going fine but then for the first quiz, all the questions were from text readings that weren't what we covered in lecture. Are we expected to know all this for the exam? I have heard the exam is open book from past years but he hasn't mentioned anything about it yet, does he mention this near the exam period or does this mean, he changed the format this year and we really do have to know the whole text?

Thanks for any input!

3p03, definitely able to get a good mark if you keep up wit the material: going to classes and tutorials.. honestly the book was unnecessary

I found it to be a decent class, but some of my peers would say otherwise, it really depends on you... Dr. Nurse's tests (not sure if thats who you have now) tend to be mostly application, so make sure to understand the concepts presented in class. He also gave practice midterms, so if you understood how to solve those problems, then you should be ok finding your way around the midterm.
Most people did well on the first midterm, causing a considerably harder second test, but still more or less the same style of questioning.
tutorials: i think some of it may have been participation(dont remember), but there were also random pop quizzes pertaining to lecture material

3ff3: taking that now... so dunno... looked at the first quiz and closed it, too many words lol

lol @ bio 3p03 being brutal. If you know your shit it's easy. Most people do poorly because they're used to recognizing the right answer as opposed to figuring stuff out on their own (short answer, etc). If you go to lectures and tutorials you'll be fine.
