BioPharm Interviews?
So I have my Biology and Pharmacology Co-op interview coming up later this week and I'm getting kinda nervous. I was just wondering, if any of you have gone through the process, how did your BioPharm interview go? What kind of questions did they ask?
Do you have any general advice to give before going in?
Thanks

Be confident, don't stress and dress professionally! Also, know your strengths/weaknesses and what you learned from previous jobs/volunteer experiences.

It's only 15 minutes long, but should we come dressed formally?

Definitely. I wore a blazer and dress pants and I think some of the guys I've spoken to in the program wore dress shirts/ties. It's always better to be overdressed than under-dressed in my opinion!
Edit: And can't go wrong with dress shoes/heels or flats either!

Make sure to say you are willing to move provinces for work terms, otherwise they will not accept you.

Converses might be okay, but I would go with the dress shoes just to be safer! You only make 1 first impression

My friend who's in the program now was also asked about a poor mark he had- it looked sort of out of place on his transcript. So if you happen to have one of these outlier marks, be ready to explain why you may have done poorly in that particular course!

Definitely don't go in converses. One of the things they're looking for in this interview is how you would behave during an interview with potential employers--they want people good at interviews who are likely to land jobs and will make a good impression/help the reputation of the co-op office amongst potential employers.

That's one way except phrase it differently..."Physic s really isn't my strong suit, and it took me a while to figure out how to properly study for and learn it, but it ended up really helping my logical thinking and problem solving skills" or something like that. In my program, a lot of people's marks dropped in second year first term, and that was a common question--why did your marks drop from first year. They typical answer was time management...someone said varsity sports resulted in bad time management...some people cited illness as a reason...but as long as you say what you learned from it and that things are improving, it's fine.

You need a minimum of 6, as well as a good supplementary application in order to get an interview. After that, it ALL depends on your interview. I know people in my year, who have a wide range of marks, which is the best thing about it, because you definitely don't need straight 12s or anything to get in.
