Will there be part time positions available for the summer?

Yes. These are Sept jobs and you have to enrolled to be eligible.

Generally the progression is that we hire a whack of part time workers for Sept., from that pool a number of students will be offered PT jobs for the full school year.

Then out of those students we choose a small handful to work full time over the summer.

The full time summer jobs are generally filled by students who have been working throughout the year. The job fair is generally for Sept jobs.

If you are going to apply make sure on your resume you highlight
1.) Cash experience
2.) Any retail experience you may have
3.) General ability to stock shelves & lift things
4.) If you are looking for a position in the computer department you'll want to outline your general knowledge of computers, understanding of basic diagnostics (you don't need to be an expert but it is helpful to know that a USB key won't work in the network cable port
5.) If you are on OSAP and eligible for the McWork program it would not hurt to add a line indicating that http://sfas.mcmaster.ca/work_study/jobs.html

You perhaps have some volunteer work or other experience that may be applicable. If you need help working on a resume the Student Success Centre has a lot of resources and people who specialize in resume writing.

Writing a resume is all about *making* your past experiences applicable. Assuming you've done more than sit on your ass for the past two decades, you must have something that can be transferrable They can teach you how to work a cash register or where books go, the student jobs don't require an advanced degree Highlight any experiences you have working with people especially, because that's something that can't be taught but is definitely applicable.
