To buy or not to buy?
I'm debating on whether or not I should get a macpass, but here's my situation: I'm going to be a first year student staying on residence. I was hoping to make the most out of welcome week, but I know that I won't be able to be there for the first 3 or 4 days. Is it still worth it to buy the macpass?

I did... i didnt find it incredibly helpful. but probably would've felt a little left out if i hadnt
in retrospect. a huge waste of money.
although, last year, i got this awesome pad of stickies. those were great. even though half of them were not sticky at all

If your gonna be there the whole of welcome week. and plan on attendng everything then do it. it is worth it.
But for a lot of the major acitivites you dont need it. I think the main ones are Faculty Day and some concerts, bed races .
Last year we got an of campus society t-shirt with a laundry bag and a bunch of faculty oriented stuff.

The concert I went to they didnt even check wrist bands so you can techinically get into that without the macpass.
But I did like getting a faculty Tshirt as well as a Residence Tshirt. The sticky pad was great, got a laundry bag (the strap on it broke right away, but I still use it), a science waterbottle, a science keychain bottle opener (cheap), a lanyard and you get those blow up things that make noise when you bang them together, for like sporting events.
The Macpass was overpriced considering what events I went to, but I liked all the stuff.
Maybe split the price with ur roomate? One of you can have ur faculty tee and the other can have the res tee.

It varies, It depends how many people buy a MacPass ahead of time. The more people by ahead of time, the more money they have to work with. You definitively get a T-Shirt though, one from your faculty and one from your residence.

It's a band that allows you to participate in various activities throughout welcome week. There will be more information later on what exactly will be happening during welcome week.

Oh right, you also get a laundry bag.
Did you go to the concert that's open to everyone or the one that was MacPass/Tickets only?

To be honest I have no idea, I went to the illscarlett/USS one, i went to the one where groups from each res did a dance or something, and the comedy one.

groups from each res did a dance? That sounds pretty fun
Would you guys think the macpass is still worth it if i were to miss 3 or 4 days of welcome week though?

Well you dont find out the schedule of the events until like the day you move in, so you might end up missing all the stuff you wouldve found fun. Also i dont know how it works but if you purchase your macpass and are absent on the day they give out the swag, do they save it for you? I feel like no.. I thought last year when they ended up with unclaimed bags of swag they sold them off

MacInsiders had the schedule pretty early last year, hopefully it'll be the same this year.

Unless you're a rep, I don't think so. Reps for residences and faculties get badges that say they're allowed on campus, and frosh have wristbands, tshirts etc to make them noticeable.
I've seen some classmates out taking pictures and they havent been escorted off or anything, but I don't think you can get *involved* with the activities otherwise.
