Charity Ball 2o1o
Yes, I am well aware that there is already a thread on this, but I want EVERYONE to know about this year's Charity Ball and I want to see EVERYONE there.
This year's Charity Ball is called Curse of Amun Ra, and it is an Egyptian theme.
Tickets went on sale TODAY at COMPASS for $40, and will be sold ALL week long.
Those of you feeling creative, please feel free to dress Egyptian-esque, but keep in mind that is a formal, so you're not required to.
We will have people there dressed like Egyptians for your entertainment and lots more.
Also note that any guests you'd like to bring must be 19+, as there will be lots of drinking.
***
A lot of hard work has gone into this (I'm sure you can imagine, raising funds for the 'charity' part, and decorating/planning for the 'ball' part), and I can truly say that you will not be disappointed.
I want to see all of you thereee, and that includes Sara, Mowicz, Marlowe, Lawley, Jeff, Blake, Skylar, Feona, Jake the Snake, Matthew, Kevin, John, Jeremy, lorend, Taunton, Nino, and yes, even you, reeves. you're never too old to dance.
(haha, sorry reeves, I couldn't resist!!)
Senebti!

Lol, if you're a student at McMaster, then you don't have to be 19.
Just if you bring a guest that does NOT attend McMaster, they have to be 19+.
and we did not sell out last week (we were close, lol), so tickets will continue being sold this week.

Excellent question.
This year, and every other year, actually,
we've decided to split it up a bit. =]
So most of this year's funds are going to go to the hospital's Neurosurgery Department for infants - they've asked us to donate money because they are in need of a special machine that is used to help new-born babies. I can't remember exactly what it does, or the name, lol, but we all voted for this because it seemed like for a very good cause, and this is a VERY expensive machine, so this is where most of our funds will be going to.
Another section of fund's will be going to our own Alumni Association.
The six components of the McMaster Alumni Association's mission are to: - support McMaster University
- involve alumni
- recognize alumni achievements
- provide services and benefits for alumni
- communicate with alumni
- involve current students,
so we are very happy to be helping them. =]
Anddd our last section will be going to the Big Brother's and Sister's of Hamilton & Burlington. Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Hamilton and Burlington serve approximately 1,000 local children and youth annually by matching them with adult mentors. This helps them reach their full potential. They hold traditional marches, tutoring sessions and workshops, i.e. "Go Girls! Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds", which encourages young girls to be active and healthy and to avoid eating disorders, etc.
If anyone has any other questions, feel freee to message me; I will be happy to answer.
EDIT: ahaha, damn, you've beaten me to the punch. xD Thanks for the quick reply, Kevin!

Thanks Kevin, and Traitor M. It's good to see that the money is going to some great charities.
P.S. Kevin, are you a robot? :p

Question, when you said that tickets were close to being sold out last week, how close did you mean? Like omg, buy your ticket Monday morning or you should be able to get one some time this week?

Hm, well I didn't sell them myself, lol, so I'm not sure exactly how many tickets are left and how many people are interested, but I'd highly suggest getting it ASAP. Sometime from Monday to Tuesday. Wednesday the absolute latest. I'm pretty sure they will be sold out early this week. *
I bought my guest's ticket on Thursday afternoon, and it was ticket #1623. O_O so there's still another couple hundred to go, but like I said, depends on how many people are interested in going. =/
