The McMaster Students Union is getting ready to host its 10th annual Charity Ball. Each year the ball is organized based on a theme, and consists of a charity casino, silent auction, late night buffet, live entertainment and dancing. Over the years, since its inception in 1999, the event has grom from a few hundred guests in attendance, a few thousand dollars donated, into 1700 guests and approximately $20,000 donated last year.
The charity, to which the money is donated, changes each year. In the past we have donated to charities such as MAC Wheelers, and last year Independence Technologies, a division of Hamilton Health Sciences. The idea behind Charity Ball is to give back to the Hamilton community. We require the charity to, at least, have a location in Hamilton.
The Charity Ball Committee is continually looking for volunteers to help with fundraising and set and decorations. If you are interested in joining a committee feel free to contact us via e-mail or phone if necessary. Volunteers have the advantage of being able to go to Charity Ball for free with a minimum time donation of 1-2 hours during the event.
