TORONTO – A Hamilton based broadcaster issued an apology on Friday after showing viewers what the station described as “inappropriate content.”

At approximately 9:30a.m. on Friday, a graphic and sexually explicit clip of pornography was played during the morning show, “News Now.”

CHCH News Director Mike Katrycz was quick to issue an apology online and urged viewers that the mistake originated outside of the station and though they apologize, it was out of their control.

“This was a problem that originated not here at CHCH, but at a cable company, apparently some cable had been cut and in the splicing back together, unfortunately, some inappropriate content went to air,” Katrycz said in a video posted on the CHCH website.

The pornographic incident quickly went viral as thousands of people online responded with disbelief and –inevitably- humour.

“CHCH” trended throughout the day on Friday with people poking fun at the pornographic mishap.

A lot of people are saying that it was not a mistake, and that CHCH meant to do that. To be honest I am not sure if it was a mistake or not.

I heard about this a while back, and found it somewhat funny. Thank God it wasn't a P.D. day or so many younger kids would be watching t.v. with their parents. I personally don't really care who's mistake it was as long as it doesn't occur again. They apologized, gave a reason why it happened and assured people it won't happen again, I'm content.

Anyone that's upset with CHCH is (surprise) uninformed... It had nothing to do with CHCH. CHCH was a victim of another, separate/independent "cog" of the machine that is television broadcasting.

I've heard tonnes of people flipping out that CHCH needs to tighten up, and should never let these kinds of issues occur... Just more idiots.

All I know is that i wished I was tuned in.

This is pretty much old news now.
As for all the people who were/are still complaining, it's just getting annoying now. It's been said over and over that CHCH had nothing to do with it, it was the cable distributors. People without cable and those on other cable providers experienced no disruption.

CHCH had nothing to do with it. The company that owns CHCH also owns several adult channels.

For some reason the cable containing the pornographic feed was routed to CHCH. I am assuming it was an accident, although it very well may not have been. It was a big deal, but regardless, it has happened and we should move on from it.
