Chem 1A03 in summer school.
Hey guys,

I am taking chem 1A03 this summer (next week!) and I am slowly getting terrified. I am much more a biology person (good at memorization, facts, theories) but I am terrible at math..TERRIBLE. I am wondering what Chem 1a03 is like during the summer? Is it really math based? I plan to study everyday and put a lot of effort into it(more effort then i put into anything else this year!) but I am really horrible at chem. I am only confidant in Quantum and that is about it.. any advice would be so appreciated!!!

= you'll be fine.

I hate to say it, but sometimes being scared about a subject is a good thing, if it can motivate you to work harder. I felt the same way about Physics last summer. Being aware of the areas where you're not the strongest and actually putting in the effort to improve puts you leaps and bounds ahead of the people who are overconfident and don't put in as much effort because they're "smart enough already".

From what I can remember, Chem 1A03 did have quite a bit of math, but you can prepare for tests by going to tutorial, asking questions, doing old midterms etc. It's definitely possible to get a good grade in this course! (Not that I did... but it's possible)

This made me laugh. I don't think you fully understand what you just said. To many of us, this here is Quantum:

Anyway, from what I recall, chem 1A03 was heavy on chemistry (not math), mainly acid/base stuff, a bit of electrochem and a little thermo. To do well, you should make sure you go to the tutorials (or do them yourself). There are also previous tests provided to you. It's important to do these because they're of similar difficulty to what you will encounter. If you can ace those tests, then you're set.

If you need any help, go to the help center (it's open during the summer)! I'll be there to help you

Macsci- LOL I probably should have specfied eh? I got the "quantum" from chem 1A03 review..well actually he called it "quantum stuff" haha, anyway we did a section in quantum in high school and i loved it ( my teacher was a huge chem nerd) kinda hoping it was the same ..ah well.

Serene: Thank you! I will most likley be living in the help centre this summer.
Thank you to all for your advice!
