Chem 2E03, 2OA3
Heyy

I was looking at taking an organic chemistry. I have already heard the horrors of CHEM 2OA3. I want to take chem 2E03 since its introductory to organics but its antirequisite is CHEM 2OA3. Should I not take chem 2E03 and just take chem 2OA3 later on like summer. Which one would be the best inorder to go into dental school?

Also if I do drop CHEM 2E03.. that means I`ll have to drop Life Sci 2EE3.

I really did not find 2OA3 that hard, just take it during the year.
All you need to do is study well before the midterm/exam.

Is Organic Chem a requirement for dental school? If so, make sure the schools you apply to accept summer classes for required courses.

That being said, 2OA3 isn't bad at all - definitely not bad as everyone made it seem. There is a moderately heavy workload, but it would be manageable within the school year

Yeah organic chem is made out to be far worse than it is. All it requires is time. Give it enough time, study, keep up with lectures and practice problems and you'll be fine.

Personally I took both chem 2OA3 and 2OB3 this summer. I'm also doing this for dental prerequisites (almost every dental school in the US and in canada... except the 2 Ontario Dental Schools requires either the first or both organic chems). 90% of the time (especially US dental schools) they require both.

If you are willing to give up one of your summers (because organic chem is a LOT of hard work but it will pay off in the end if you actually stay consistant with the workload), I would suggest avoiding the labless orgo because labs = 20% of your mark and honestly it's fairly simple to get 90%+ on your labs compared to your midterm and final. Basically... the labs (i found) pull up your grades. The only cons to labs I can see is taking it during the school year = they can be time consuming for you and take away time from your other classes.

You might want to try the marketplace.
