Welcome to the wonderful world of Materials Engineering.
I don't know much about the prof since I had it with Landry, but the course material is relatively straightforward. It's just a more in-depth look at atomic structure and bonding. You'll learn about orbitals with emphasis on hybrid orbitals, and a few methods to determine which hybridise, and I recall just a general look at hydrogen bonding, van der Waals forces, and ionic/covalent bonds.
Even though there were three hours a week set aside for it, there were only two lectures with the third slot being used to hold a tutorial every other week. The workload is light (two assignments, two texts, exam), but it's not something that should be underestimated.
There is also no textbook required, though I recall Landry mentioning a book in Thode that could be used for reference. I don't think anyone ever did though.
